The Story
He couldn’t remember the first time he felt like this, like a ship that’s sinking into the ocean; but he had felt this feeling all his life. The feeling that darkness was closing in all around, ready to envelope him whole. He thought back on everything that had been happening for the last 40 years, how the galaxy was brought down to it’s knees… vast empires crumbled, massive destruction throughout civilisations and upended trading routes across the galaxy: all with the arrival of the Three Beings. Not ordinary beings, but these were more like gods; Gods of terror! Wielding immense and never before seen power, these demons upon their arrival from wherever it was they came from went to one of the most powerful forces in the known galaxy… and annihilated their home world. Beings with the ability to rip worlds apart with nothing but their own energy had ever been heard of before. There have been some notably powerful people through what’s left of history, much of which has been destroyed by these beings who have built their empire based on fear. Stories of people fighting with energy have echoed through the ages but have since disappeared…. except for one. This person’s name was Clyak.
He slowed his Pouncer to think a bit, his Anti-Grav Lev bike was exceptionally quick and stocked with defensive upgrades. He gazed at the three suns, one was setting, another further back and the third trailing in the distance. Through the haze of the sky the suns were playing spectacular light displays due to the atmospherics of this particular planet. He thought back to his teacher, a master of Potentia Virtutis, a group dedicated to exploring inner power through virtue, the application of universal truths and mastery of the material. Perhaps there was an even deeper understanding about universal truths that was not known due to the malevolence of these beings. He was the only surviving member of Potentia Virtutis left, the rest had been hunted down by these beings because they feared them. They feared one of them would find… THE PATH TO POWER! An ancient folk lore that had been circulating forever, many believe it to be a myth. The legend was about a young man, who faced an unthinkable enemy and was beaten. He vanished and returned with great power to destroy his enemies who took everything from him.
The whole story was lost to him, he could remember fragments of it. Much of that young man’s planet was destroyed by a mysterious and evil power, wiping out billions over the course of a few years. The man had faced them and was defeated, escaping with his life. He left his home world in search of help but found something else. Months passed until he crashed on a strange planet and he came across a path. The path led to an ancient and pulsating raw power. The power transformed him and he returned to his planet, freeing what was left. For as long as Clyak could remember he had been fascinated by this story though it was not complete, he never dreamed he himself would go in search of it.
Clyak had been spending the last few years researching and digging for information. He thought back to a time some years ago, before he began his search for the path; the reason he began in the first place. Years ago he came across a crashed Telestation, a massive teleporting Stargate that transported ship’s across the universe. Clyak had only gone inside to look for spare parts and useful scrap when he came across a gravely injured intelligence officer for the Universal Offensive Forces (UOF). A collective force that fight’s the empire. The man was babbling nonsense until the man grabbed Clyak’s jacket, pulled him closer and whispered…’we found it… we found the path’….. Clyak told him to be still a he knew his life was fading but the officer did his best to explain…. ‘We…. found… the … path…. to power’….. ‘It’s just a myth’ said Clyak. ‘No….. we found proof… we were… looking for it’.… With the mans dying breathe he told Clyak how to retrieve the information. Clyak proceeded to where the man had described; two floors up, through a corridor and into the server room.
Through the wreckage, he wrenched open the broken door to the server room. He hoped there was still power, to his relief there was but he didn’t have much time. He scrawled through the computer system looking for a directory called ‘Operation Power Path’, as described to him. After a few minutes he located it and took from his pocket a small device with a strange connector and plugged it into an empty slot.
He was over the 62% mark when he heard a large explosion far away on another part of the ship. The console begun to die….’NO, NO, NO!!!’ He shouted, slamming his fist into the surface but it was too late…. The console was dead. He disconnected, looked into space for a few moments and then left; anxious to see what information he managed to procure.
He didn’t get all of it but enough to know that the path was real and where to look for it next. The data showed a lot of historical information, a whole civilisation built along the path to it’s source. A different age when the galaxy was not as connected as it was now. 31257 BC - 42673 BC (Before Connection), it was an extremely rough date but better than nothing. Apparently these people were wise, peaceful, supremely powerful and a beacon of civilisation. Centred around an ancient power source of some kind that channeled power and abilities into these people through training. Clyak had found more than he needed to know; he was off to find the path to power. It had taken him a few years, searching many planets but hoped he was closer than ever.
Suddenly back to the present moment his Pouncer died and dug into the ground throwing him off with a face full of dirt, he wasn’t going too fast but enough to hurt. He composed himself and checked the bike, seemed fine but no power. He decided to drag his Pouncer back to roughly where it shut down thinking there might have been a magnetic anomaly, the power returned. Relieved his Pouncer wasn’t broken he checked a map and set out. He could alway’s call his ship to come get him and it would safely navigate the anomaly on it’s own. It wasn’t long before his hair’s were standing on end and he began feeling a strong sensation within himself. He carried on walking for a while and realised he was actually on a path. Following further up a slope, something caught his eye. It was a giant red orb floating….. as he approached a tower below the orb came into view. He was confused as depictions he had seen showed a very different structure. Maybe this wasn’t it or perhaps there was much further to go. There was only one way he could find out.
Suddenly he heard a droning noise….. behind him he saw gathering dust clouds on the horizon. Either the empire was tracking him or someone was still living on this planet. He didn’t want to find out and there was only one place to go…. the tower.

The Emperor’s Folly
For what seemed an age the Emperor had dreamt of his dominance of the known universe, so close yet an unnerving feeling that something lay in the darkness of the unknown.
His Empire, The Inperium Empire, one that encompasses most of the known universe; was one of the most lethal Empire’s to have existed. Passed down through generations, his predecessors had all tried and failed to dominate the universe. Only he has been triumphant, faction’s that opposed his family for millennia had suddenly fallen to their knee’s. His ruthless —ness only rivalled by his cunning. After conquering everything and everyone, he became lost and distant. With nothing else to enslave the emperor had become very restless. He started having vision’s and nightmare’s, of battle’s he never had, part’s of the universe he did not recognise and an unknown species. For months he was having these vision’s, inside of him grew a fear, a fear for the unknown. He had never experienced true fear, it did not sit with him well at all.
With all the power and authority at his disposal he felt an emptiness, while the chaos of the unknown sent him mad, unable to shake the feeling; one of his highest advisors comes marching in. Having detected something in a dark part of the universe that was unexplored and realising there may actually be an unknown enemy which he is yet to face. He gives the order to assemble the fleets of starships at his disposal and some of there’re most advanced weaponry. He needed to be sure that whatever he faced; he was ready to wipe it out.
As they made their way towards the edges of the universe, navigating through the unknown. The emperor sweats only to himself, never showing the slightest sign of the chaos that was inside. Holding his steadfast nerves and never saying more than what was necessary, all the while his fear grows every day.
Through the mist of space they suddenly pick up a signal of a potential enemy fleet near a watery world and close to an asteroid belt. It’s unclear if this was a fleet or just an anomaly as detecting ships in the vastness of space was a lot of guesswork. Having followed the signal to what appears to be an asteroid belt the Emperor was more than frustrated. Thinking perhaps he was just going mad and there was no enemy. Even if there is, they are sure to have inferior technology, after all; how could a civilisation at the edge of the universe rival the whole of the developed universe in technology and power?
Out of nowhere a luminous green sphere suddenly appears near the asteroid belt, blindingly bright and radiating power it proceeded to inverse to a focal point and explode into a rod of light taking out several of the emperor’s starships. The battle had only just begun!
